ACM Forges Alliance with Bio-Intensive Gardening (BIG) Expert

ACM Homes has forged a partnership with the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) for its community garden. The residential housing expert is the first partner from the corporate sector. Historically, IIRR has only partnered with government and non-profit organizations. IIRR, an international organization with over 80 years of experience in promoting sustainable development, will be providing technical assistance to ACM residents by introducing Bio-Intensive Gardening (BIG). BIG is a natural method of growing plants without the use of chemicals and pesticides. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement last April 11 between officials of ACM and IIRR marks an important milestone in strengthening ACM's commitment towards the creation of sustainable communities through livelihood projects.

So what's in store for the residents of Pacific Terraces Community and Pacific Woods? First, the BIG training will provide mentoring and technical guidance in setting up the community garden along NSC road of Pacific Terraces Community. Second, the produce can be sold in a weekend organic market to augment the family's income.

The partnership of ACM Homes with IIRR is only the beginning of a series of partnerships ACM Homes will be forming with other organizations to promote the company's advocacy on greening the environment and improving literacy among children.
